Ulta Salon Formula Nail Lacquer- Envy

Hi guys, today we are putting up our tree! I'm very excited because this is the first year our son can really jump in and be a part of it all! We will put on some music, get out the decorations and have some snacks. Then when were done, probably watch a Christmas movie! I love this time of year! Whatever holiday you celebrate, family and the traditions you have make it all more special. I just hope I can make it as special for my son as my mom did for me!
Anyways today's polish is just gorgeous! I knew it was pretty in the bottle but I wasn't sure how sheer it would be. It almost covered in one coat! I did a second for extra measure, and I love it. It is such a rich teal. The one issue I have with this, is the bottle, I don't know why they changed it? Its not the shape or the brush, but the top, its stubby and fat and round and really hard to hold when applying the polish. Nonethe less, I wont let this deter me, the color is too darn pretty!

Orly- Lucky Duck

Hello! I hope you guys had a nice Thanksgiving! I had a wonderful time, we had dinner with my husbands family early then went about 2 miles down the road to my family's for some pie and coffee. The only thing that I would have changed was to take away my sons cold. He woke up feeling stuffy and sick and just wasn't himself all day. Poor little guy! But we all got to be together and had a great time.
Today to ump back into posting, I have for you another Orly Birds of a Feather polish, Lucky Duck. This is a bright jade green creme. It went on nice, covered in 2 coats and was super shiny. It flowed onto the nail with no problem, and drying time was good. In the pictures below I also used a topcoat.

Water Marble attempt!

Well folks, this blog is as much a learning process for me as it is fun. So not everything is going to be pretty! I tried a water marble once before and it was no better or worse than this, I think it is one of those things that probably get better with practice. From a distance, or if you just glance they actually turned out kinda pretty, but a closer look, (especially when you take close up pictures) reveals quite a mess! Lets have a look, shall we?

For the colors, I used: Rimmel- Navy Baby, Orly- Lucky Duck, and Sally Hansen Xtreme wear- Celeb City. I copied what the tutorials said, room temperature water, drop colors one at a time into center of each other, pull from center out to create design then dip! I used the tape method to protect my fingers and minimize clean up.I did these late at night in a dark room with the light of the television, then took the pictures first thing the following morning, and my clean up isn't what it could be, so be gentle:-) Also you will notice I got pictures of my never before seen right hand! I like the swirls on that one better, so I figured I'd show you. So that's that, next time I might try using all cremes because I think they look nicer (I'll actually do a better job of cleaning up my fingers first too)!

Revlon- Starry Pink

Hello again:-) Happy Wednesday! The week is half over and I cannot wait until this weekend! Not because my week is going badly, but for once I have nothing to do this weekend but relax! Sometimes a girl needs to take a break!
For now though, I have a very pretty and unexpected color from Revlon; Starry Pink. This color kind of blows my mind, because I really didnt think much of it untill I got it on. I dont know whats with me lately, colors I think I will love just dont do it for me and colors that im meh about, I end up falling in love with. Who would have guessed my two favorites of late would have been pinks? Not I!
If a color like this exists in the polish world, I've never seen it. I feel like I have fairy princess fingers, lol! This is a light baby pink creme-jelly. Kind of milky so you can see the layers of small round and medium silver hex glitter suspended.

I really didnt expect to like this as much as I do. This is 3 coats. Th first coat looked almost like clear polish, but it built up nicely. The glitter wasnt rough or gritty. I used a coat of Seche Vite to seal it up, and it wore like iron.
For any of you fellow glitter lovers, I finally tried the foli method. If you dont know, thats when you soak 10 cottonballs in remover (acetone works best) then place each one on a finger and wrap with a square of foil to hold the cotton ball in place. Wait about 10-12 minutes and press down n pull off. The polish sould come off completely. I was skeptical, but it works! If you think 10 minutes is too long to sit woth foil on your fingers, time how how the scrubbing takes you!

OPI- Warm & Fozzie

Hi guys:-) Miss me? Well I'm back with some swatches. I have here another polish from the Muppets Collection,Warm & Fozzie. First off, how cute is this name!?!? I decided to buy this polish before I even saw it based on the name alone.

I love this in the bottle and I actually love it in the pictures too, for some reason in real life it washed out my skin something terrible.
Its a really pretty medium brown with sometimes mauvey, sometimes brassy foil/glitter. I know that might be the worst explanation ever, but for some reason this color is super hard to describe! When it looks mauve-brown, I love it, when the brassiness comes out, I hate it. I think it's beacuse of my very pink skin, the tone just dosent work. I got these pictures at home, but the sun happened to be on strike that day so these are all inside. They really only show the polish when its the color I like, at my office under the flourescent lights was when the ugly came out.
Nonetheless it went on nicely; a tad thin, so this is three coats. For some reason, removal of this gave me fits! For all my complaining though, this is a beautiful color. On warmer skintones it would be faboulous!

Essie- Cocktail Bling Preview

Hello! Sorry about being gone the last few days, you know how people get in spring? Wanting to get all the cleaning and house stuff done, well I'm that way in the fall. I guess I'm preparing for Upstate New York's wicked winter! I have been cleaning, rearranging, purging, and going insane! Once I start, I cant stop until I feel like I've accomplished something.I think its timer to sit down and take a break, for the moment!I do have some new swatches for you, I'm getting the pictures together and they will be ready starting tomorrow!

These are the press pictures Essie released from their winter collection. I haven't seen them in stores yet but I've seen some pictures from pros that get early samples. Its a very subdued and sophisticated collection. Not as fun as the barrage of glitter headed our way, but maybe that's the point. It might be a nice break!

bobbing for baubles
a deepest darkest sapphire

size matters
a blazing hot ruby red

bangle jangle
a lavender amethyst

school of hard rocks
a midnight malachite

cocktail bling
a precious pale gray jewel

brooch the subject
a creamy cashmere cameo

So, what do you think?

OPI- Excuse Moi!

I am very excited about this polish! I have been awaiting the arrival of the Muppet's polishes and this is my first one. This is the one glitter in the collection that you wont have to layer to get opaque. I usually do not think of myself as a pink fan, but this color is awesome!

This is a bright pink jelly with a mega dose of pink micro glitter, and medium sized hex glitter. Also sprinkled in there is medium hex glitter in green, blue, yellow and silver (from what I can see). I say sprinkled because it reminds me of rainbow sprinkles on hot pink ice cream, so fun! This went on like most glitters. I used three coats that dried lightening fast. It devours topcoat, I started with two coats of Seche Vite, but decided to do another the next morning. My only complaint, is that which I have with most glitters... chipping! I put this on Saturday night, and by Sunday afternoon, one of my pinkies and a middle finger were half naked. I need to figure out a way to fix this problem. A new basecoat perhaps? I welcome advice!

Orly- Nite Owl

If you had seen the state of my nails post ladybug, you would be afraid! I decided to take a day and moisturize, file, do something about them cuticles! Well Rome was not built in a day right! I am pleased with how they came out and decided to do something neutral. I didn't originally get this when I got Fowl Play, but went back, and I'm so glad I did. In the bottle it is very beige but against my skin its a little more taupe. I am that pale I make beige look dark! This is a very office appropriate shade but its still really fun! I used 3 really thin coats here and 2 Seche Vite although I really only needed one. I decided to do another to wrap the tips and see if that extended the wear time.

I really like this color. The drying issues that sometimes come with the Orly formula were absent. This glided on beautifully, and dried in a jiffy!
I have Butter London's All Hail The Queen, on my wish list anyone know if this is similar? I think AHTQ might be a little warmer toned, but that's just from pictures.

Ladybug Nails, with Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby

Ahhhhh, Halloween...I never learn! It always sounds so fun to get dressed up and go out,and don't get me wrong I do have fun, but where I live it sometimes snows on Halloween and my costume choices are never really 'season- appropriate'. This year I thought it all out, get something cute but not slutty, something fun but still kind of comfy... yeeaaa... Well as usual I waited till the day of the weekend of Halloween to head of to the costume stores that popped everywhere, and surprise! Nuthin! So I wandered around and found some cute ladybug wings, some red and black polka dot tights and some antennae! Ta Da...ladybug!
So what completes any good ensemble? Cute nails, right!

This is 2 medium coats of Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby. It is a red jelly that is really nice albeit sheer. I used a dotting tool (my first time!) to add my little buggy dots:-) Considering that I did this moments before we left,I am pretty pleased! Also, what looks like the sloppy mess around my cuticles wasn't really visible in real life!
