Remember me? It's been a while, a loooong while! I guess I should explain myself.... First off, life is great, just crazy. We are doing a big house remodel, getting ready for the baby, yep, I'm pregnant! Baby number two is expected to show up Valentine's Day:-) Also I know I mentioned before I got a new job, well I'm taking some classes (2) on top of that. So between a 2 yr old, baby on the way, full time job, 2 classes and a house remodel, I've been a little busy! I really miss you guys and my blog! To be honest I haven't had my fingers polished in months! I tried to juggle things and keep posting at first, but I ended up feeling guilty all the time that something was getting neglected. So a little break was necessary. I won't be back full time yet, but I wanted to let you guys know I will be trying to post occasionally and eventually get back on track. I understand that some of you have dropped me from hour blog rolls, I get it, I've been a bit of an absentee blogger! <br> <p><a href='http://lh3.ggpht.com/-jQdSFgkqGlA/UD4C2W1rqfI/AAAAAAAACGg/istxKzU7ha8/s0/IMAG0359.jpg'><img src='http://lh3.ggpht.com/-jQdSFgkqGlA/UD4C2W1rqfI/AAAAAAAACGg/istxKzU7ha8/s400/IMAG0359.jpg' /></a></p><p><a href='http://lh4.ggpht.com/-HuROpNUxlnU/UD4C3eJkUDI/AAAAAAAACGo/wsfm64HkstU/s0/IMAG0362.jpg'><img src='http://lh4.ggpht.com/-HuROpNUxlnU/UD4C3eJkUDI/AAAAAAAACGo/wsfm64HkstU/s400/IMAG0362.jpg' /></a></p><p>
Anywhozzle, today I thought I'd share my mani. It's NYC Sidewalks & Sally Hansen Multi Faceted. These pics were shot on my phone at work so fingers crossed that they come out! I like this, sidewalks is one of my favorite med grey cremes. It has great coverage in 2 coats. Multi Faceted is fun, I like the color combination. Black,silver, and iridescent hex glitter, all the same size. The glitter is suspended in a clear base that doesn't alter the base at all. This is shown with one coat. I tried Out the Door instead of my usual Seche Vite, and so far do good, although I do see some bubbles. I'm not sure who to blame that on quite yet....</p>
<p>So it was nice being back! Hope you guys understand! I'll try and get back into the swing of things soon. Muah!</p>

Two recent purchases reminded me of other colors in my stash at first glance. So I figured someone else might be thinking the same thing without seeing them side by side. <br />
First off is the last color I swatched, Skylar. I thought that this looked a lot like Essie Smooth Sailing (one of my favorites)! The are similar but after putting them next to each other I instantly knew these were very different. Skylar is more cornflower blue and SS is more periwinkle. Both have shimmer that is quite noticeable. Skylar has iridescent shimmer that shifts from gold to silver to pink; the base is lighter and more dusty. Smooth Sailing is more saturated, brighter, and its shimmer is silver. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u97FjLoL374/T8VfoHTzwNI/AAAAAAAABAA/50RKyMrXhDc/s1600/100_5493.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" rba="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u97FjLoL374/T8VfoHTzwNI/AAAAAAAABAA/50RKyMrXhDc/s320/100_5493.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next two I thought looked like they might be alike are China Glaze Strawberry Fields, and Zoya Kimber. Even next to each other these look strikingly similar, not dupes, but close. That is, until you put them on... Both are warm medium pinks with gold glass fleck. Kimber has substantially more </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
pigment, it's nearly a one coater. SF is pretty sheer needing 2-3 coats, and still coming out lighter. The formula on Kimber is wonderful, while SF is slightly watery.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bAgJiFFtVy8/T8ViMZKIHGI/AAAAAAAABAM/wfdjZi6a6Js/s1600/100_5494.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="233" rba="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bAgJiFFtVy8/T8ViMZKIHGI/AAAAAAAABAM/wfdjZi6a6Js/s320/100_5494.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So without further ado...pictures. Please forgive the state of my nails (I wasn't leaving them like this so I was a little lazy).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--m9Zdkt4QTo/T8VjZHoW02I/AAAAAAAABAU/RC_leIX1jY0/s1600/100_5502.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" rba="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--m9Zdkt4QTo/T8VjZHoW02I/AAAAAAAABAU/RC_leIX1jY0/s320/100_5502.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Left to Right: Skylar, Smooth Sailing, Kimber, Strawberry Fields</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zrwPXcQ137Y/T8Vjc7T7F1I/AAAAAAAABAc/o0upSRudN78/s1600/100_5507.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" rba="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zrwPXcQ137Y/T8Vjc7T7F1I/AAAAAAAABAc/o0upSRudN78/s320/100_5507.JPG" width="242" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Top to Bottom: Skylar, Smooth Sailing, Kimber, Strawberry Fields</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have reviewed all of these except SF, so there are full swatches and write ups n the others. Being the polish collector that I am I have no problem owning all of these. The are all different enough to justify buying. My favorite blue between the two is Smooth Sailing, and pink is Kimber. </div>lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-36998165957877594362012-05-27T11:00:00.000-04:002012-05-27T11:00:02.308-04:00Zoya- SkylarHi guys, I hope you are all having a great holiday weekend. We are camping in the NYS finger lakes, eating, drinking wine and relaxing with the family...what could be better? It is an issue that two of my favorite summer pastimes are at such odds with my nails: gardening and camping. Neither are kind to my hands, so my nails will most likely be kept short in the near future.<br />
Anyways today I have another Zoya polish I just picked up, Skylar. I remember opening this and thinking that it was pretty close to Essie Smooth Sailing, but although they are in the same color family, they are different enough that I need both. I will post some comparison pictures here shortly.<br />

Skylar is a dusty cornflower blue with shimmer that I believe is iridescent. The shimmer shifts from gold to pink to silver, and really makes this polish interesting. It applies like a creme. These pictures are with two coats and SV. I had significant shrinkage at the tips and needed touch up after one day. I will attribute that to the topcoat, but am only guessing at this. Skylar is one of those season-less colors that I feel works well with my skin tone, I will be keeping her handy...lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-48838293759845675002012-05-26T11:00:00.000-04:002012-05-26T11:00:02.477-04:00Zoya- RicaOk, so Rica is a polish that was on my wishlist for a loooong time! I remember seeing this and how badly I wanted it. At the time, I didn't realize I could still get Zoya polishes after the collections left the store shelves, and was so very sad at the thought that I had missed the boat. How happy was I when I realized I could still get them off the website? Well lets just say I may have done a little dance in my living room, lol! I have not resolveds my computer issues yet and this week my 2 year old son decided to hide mommy's camera card, so needless to say I was lost as to what to do, until today he walked up and handed it to my husband. He still wont say where it was, but I guess it was never really lost after all since he knew exactly where it was the whole time!<br />
Anyway here is Rica: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6GCVZ-WXhP4/T8ApyZkc84I/AAAAAAAAA_I/AhdSKg6GHd0/s1600/101_5441.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qba="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6GCVZ-WXhP4/T8ApyZkc84I/AAAAAAAAA_I/AhdSKg6GHd0/s320/101_5441.JPG" width="252" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GomyF4kUdCU/T8Ap0gV1lfI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/WwBxQjO8gw4/s1600/101_5442.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qba="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GomyF4kUdCU/T8Ap0gV1lfI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/WwBxQjO8gw4/s320/101_5442.JPG" width="252" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7DJZo9QId1w/T8Ap2CN5f6I/AAAAAAAAA_Y/ofG_ZCMd7LI/s1600/101_5444.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qba="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7DJZo9QId1w/T8Ap2CN5f6I/AAAAAAAAA_Y/ofG_ZCMd7LI/s320/101_5444.JPG" width="244" /></a></div>
I am not satisfied with the pictures I have here. None of them really capture the beauty that Rica has. This is three thin coats, with Sv topcoat. It is a orange, copper, pink, gold color glass fleck. I don't really want to call it a foil but it kind of a glass fleck-foil hybrid. If you look at the bottle, the formula looks pretty thin, but it builds to opaque nicely. To truly appreciate how much this glimmers you have to see it in the sun. If you like colors in this category, this is a MUST! I promise you will not be sorry.lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-63364712502960189762012-05-19T11:00:00.000-04:002012-05-19T11:00:00.684-04:00Revlon - Red BikiniHi Guys!!! I interrupt my scheduled Zoya post for this lovely red creme! If one color cries out to be worn on short nails, its red! Red Bikini is a very on trend orange leaning red creme. I got this at Ulta last week as an impulse buy in the checkout line. I couldn't leave without it coming home to live with me. I was going to wait to put it on until I finished my six new Zoyas but the short nails and my nautical outfit I had today needed this color:-) My camera tried really hard to make this look coral, but it is a tomato red. <br />

The color is most accurate in the first picture. This is two coats, I used topcoat but it looked just as shiny without. This went on super smooth, kudos Revlon, I take back all the things I said about you! Such a simple color, but it yells look at me (and I did...all day)! </div>lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-80557466956235560352012-05-18T11:00:00.000-04:002012-05-18T11:00:10.546-04:00Zoya -KimberHi Guys! How is everyone doing? I have exciting news...I got a promotion at work! Yay!!! I really wanted this position but wasn't getting my hopes up just in case... I start next Thursday and am already planning my nails:-) Anyways back to the point...today I have another new Zoya polish, Kimber. I love this color, its a bright warm pink with pink and gold glass fleck. A rich saturated color that screams summer:-) <br />

This is two coats, the formula was pretty much perfect. I have it shown here with topcoat. This reminds me very much of a slightly darker China Glaze Strawberry Fields. I'll post a comparison soon! My poor nails had to be filed down, my middle fingernail broke so short! Hopefully my nails will grow fast...I don't want talons, but these nubbins are a little short for my taste!lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-89669630155542645442012-05-13T17:19:00.000-04:002012-05-13T17:19:43.369-04:00Zoya- RoryHi Guys! Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful mommies out there! I am spending the beautiful day with my family, and it couldnt be more perfect! I hope you are all having a great weekend!!!
So if your a polish addict, chances are you have bought a polish strictly because of the name. I am guilty of this on a number of occasions, and this is another. I know most of your minds will go straight to Gilmore Girls when they hear Rory, but Rory is my step dad. When Zoya released their summer collection, I instantly liked a few of them and this one was a fringe one for me. Sometimes I have to go for the fringe ones or else I would never try anything different, so that is how I ended up getting Rory. I was lucky enough to catch Zoya's Earth Day Sale (half off!) and 6 new polishes came to live with me:-) I really hope they do this sale every year, because I am already planning for 2013! <br />
So here we go...<br />

I really like this color with my skin tone, until a girl I work with said "hmmm, mauve?" What does she know anyway! Now when I see it, all I see is grandmas mauve polish. Not cool! I really liked this, so I am not happy about that turn of events.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Rory was a 2 coater, easy and smooth. This is shown with a topcoat. She is a lavender leaning pink with silver shimmer. Very cool toned, and almost icy. So what is your opinion, mauve or not?<a href="http://www.blogger.com/"></a> </div>lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-46492383142757068982012-05-12T10:00:00.000-04:002012-05-12T10:00:02.775-04:00Color Club, OtherworldlyHi guys! It's been a while, you miss me? My nails have been chopped due to cleaning, playing, parties, and bonfires! All of those can also explain my absence of late! Also my computer has been a little 'sick', and I haven't been able to post anything, so the combination has left me feeling a little guilty. I recently got some nail mail, I am very excited to get working on, but I couldn't resist wearing this one! I luuuuve this polish! Its blue, its neon, and its glitter. What's not to love right?!?! <br />
Anyways this is Color Club Otherworldly, part of last summers collection. This is the only one I grabbed, and although I could kick myself for not getting any of the others, if I had to have one, this would be it! I've been waiting all winter and spring to wear this, and its time. <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is two coats that go on really nice. No clumping of glitter, not to sheer that you need a ton of coats, this was a pleasure. It dries to a satin finish that looks cool, but I prefer it with topcoat. Here's a picture before SV. See how it has a satin finish. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well I will try and resolve my computer issues, it is wayyy to much of a pain to post from my phone, especially getting my pictures onto my phone. I'm sure a more tech savvy person wouldn't have any issues, but I am not that person. I try... I do have some fun colors coming up though so stay tuned:-)</div>

I figured since this is Autism Awareness Month, I would get a blue in before its too late. I also figured I would wear another Magical Nail Makeup holo. This is Blue Aura and a whole lot of pictures. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
AHHHHHH! Love this! Blue Aura is absolutely stunning! This is two thin coats, no topcoat. I feel like I am breaking some rule wearing no topcoat, but it looks so much better without!!! The last was left blurry on purpose to capture the rainbow. Seriously people, if you ever stumble upon these, grab em and run!!!</div>lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-45103364934291827212012-04-29T11:04:00.000-04:002012-04-29T11:04:07.713-04:00Orly Charged Up<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hello! I hope you are all having wonderful weekends! Today I have Charged Up from Orly. I wore this yesterday for the March of Dimes walk, since their color is purple. It was a nice walk, they exceeded their fundraising goal by quite a bit, and it is growing every year. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The color here came out true to life, this is a nice medium cool toned purple. This one did throw me for a loop though. I thought that this was a creme. It is not. Charged Up is a jelly. I needed 3 coats to get this opaque and my coats were not especially thin. It was very sheer on the first one, then I had some dragging near the cuticles on the second where it looked patchy and the third coat was the charm! It was a nice jelly, I just was expecting creme. This was super shiny, these pictures are before I put on topcoat! <br />
I am going to try and get outside today since we have some sun. Go enjoy our Sunday, I'll talk to you guys again soon!lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-31057197286185318042012-04-27T18:45:00.002-04:002012-04-27T18:45:42.925-04:00Sally Hansen Magic Nail Make Up- Mystical MandarinHi guys, TGIF! My week was alright, nothing much going on. Tomorrow I am doing the March of Dimes walk with my mom and my sister. It's a cause that's close to my family. So hopefully it's a good turnout and a nice day! Anyways to get to the polish, today, I have another one that came out of the mystery grab bag I was talking about before. This is Mystical Mandarin. A gorgeous linear holo! The old stinky, loaded with chemicals kind of holo! To me it looks a lot more pink than mandarin, but who really cares when it looks like this! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gPQjbsY9f-A/T5iy76qF-aI/AAAAAAAAA4U/RiE_yx-Jss4/s1600/Sally+Hansen+Mystical+Mandarin+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" oda="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gPQjbsY9f-A/T5iy76qF-aI/AAAAAAAAA4U/RiE_yx-Jss4/s320/Sally+Hansen+Mystical+Mandarin+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NTHmV-tJhLo/T5izBefawBI/AAAAAAAAA4c/tfjq7uNOfjI/s1600/Sally+Hansen+Mystical+Mandarin+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NTHmV-tJhLo/T5izBefawBI/AAAAAAAAA4c/tfjq7uNOfjI/s320/Sally+Hansen+Mystical+Mandarin+2.JPG" width="245" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8R9Z6k_6poo/T5izFPY9jHI/AAAAAAAAA4k/9b3VN8IIr3g/s1600/Sally+Hansen+Mystical+Mandarin+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oda="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8R9Z6k_6poo/T5izFPY9jHI/AAAAAAAAA4k/9b3VN8IIr3g/s320/Sally+Hansen+Mystical+Mandarin+3.JPG" width="238" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W_Ejd6xw6Ro/T5saKhViC9I/AAAAAAAAA54/W2iiffHs1B4/s1600/Sally+Hansen+Mystical+Mandarin+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" oda="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W_Ejd6xw6Ro/T5saKhViC9I/AAAAAAAAA54/W2iiffHs1B4/s320/Sally+Hansen+Mystical+Mandarin+5.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So this is tow coats of MM then one of SV then another MM. I'm not sure if it is true or not, but I feel like that layer of topcoat helps is it hold up a little better. I put the polish coat over that because I feel like it loses some of its linear 'holo-ness' (I am aware that holo-ness is not a word, haha). This goes on very thin and has some bald patches on the first coat but by two its nice and covered:-) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have three of these lovelies and rarely wear them because I don't want to use it all up! Therefore, I will post these as I wear them, I wont be swatching and removing. I don't know how many were in this collection, but here is what I have:</div>

Gotta fit some me time in here and there...Anyways, I apologize in advance because this is not a polish that is readily available anymore. I'm sure you could find it on ebay or somewhere, but this is an oldie. I actually found a bag of these a few (8?) years ago, at a store called Christmas Tree Shop. The had a bin with these clear plastic makeup cases each filled with about 8 Sally Hansen polishes. They were sealed shut and you couldn't really tell what polishes were inside so, I grabbed two mystery bags and here I have one of them. This is Purple Diamond (beware picture heavy!!)<br />

Isnt this pretty! Its a light silvery-lavender holo, that just shines! If I thought it was hard to capture purple or glitter, that was cake compared to holo! You would not believe how many pictures I had to take to get it narrowed down to this! If you think I am complaining, I am not I would have taken twice this for this polish. This is two coats PD with a topcoat of SV then another coat of PD because I thought the topcoat kind of killed the rainbow effect. This is pretty watery in consistency and the first coat leaves some patchiness, but it fills in nicely. For a while holo polishes like this were hard to find, but more and more polishes brands are releasing them again. Yay for that!lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-37412057514765155622012-04-22T12:30:00.001-04:002012-04-24T17:47:03.356-04:00China Glaze- For AudreyHi guys, happy Sunday. I am being so lazy today. I am sitting on my couch, still in my jammies, and I love it! If I had got to sleep past 7 this morning (after being up until 2:30), today would be perfect. Today I have a polish that was one of the first one's that I fell in love with when I started collecting (aka hoarding, lol)! This is one of those ones that has a special place in a lot of peoples collections, China Glaze- For Audrey. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The formula on this is a nice two coat creme. Nothing else to really say about it. I know lots of colors like this have come out recently and it works great for spring/summer. This one will always be one of my favorites. Luckily this isn;'t hard to find, its in most core displays. <br />
Now its off to, oh I dont know, take a nap? So last week I had the stamping bug and did some fun designs. This is another one. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tK35T1A3tmM/T5IjvxyZT4I/AAAAAAAAA2M/vqYfUVr73yU/s1600/100_5046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qda="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tK35T1A3tmM/T5IjvxyZT4I/AAAAAAAAA2M/vqYfUVr73yU/s320/100_5046.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ms2GfytZFwE/T5IkTfgxaDI/AAAAAAAAA2c/PNSG33MctwI/s1600/100_5048.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" qda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ms2GfytZFwE/T5IkTfgxaDI/AAAAAAAAA2c/PNSG33MctwI/s320/100_5048.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I started with two coats of China Glaze First Mate, which I found to be a wonderful dark blue creme. Then I planned on stamping yellow suns on top. For this I choose China Glaze Sunshine Popand BM204. SP was not opaque enough to come out true yellow over such a dark base. So instead it came out kind of gold. it didn't really look like suns so i got out my dotting tool and used the same yellow to dot the center. To be honest I don't really know what these look like but I thought they were cool, so whatever:-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I apologize for the super crappy pictures. I don't know why my camera couldn't focus. I thought maybe it was the cuticle oil? After so much swatching, I needed that oil though, and the colors are still accurate. Incase you want to see First Mate alone, here she is: </div>
<br />

Thanks for stopping by:-) Today I have another one of the designs I tried Sunday (while I was supposed to be studying)! I don't know why but this design with the green and pink reminds me of Lilly Pulitzer and West Palm Beach. Preppy, beachy, and fun:-) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o4ghVUXkQDk/T4trhALNQTI/AAAAAAAAA18/shbRnkKMNr4/s1600/Orly+Fresh+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" nda="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o4ghVUXkQDk/T4trhALNQTI/AAAAAAAAA18/shbRnkKMNr4/s320/Orly+Fresh+1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is two coats of Orly Fresh, stamped with Bm224. For the flowers I used my trusty Sinful Colors White on White, with China Glaze Dance Baby for the dots in the flowers. Somehow this color didn't give me lobster hands which makes me very happy, because I love this! </div>lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-17135701778008019742012-04-16T09:00:00.000-04:002012-04-16T09:00:12.852-04:00Citrus Fruit:-)Hello again! It's the beginning of another work week... I have an exam for an insurance class I'm taking this morning, so fingers crossed! I was supposed to a bunch of studying yesterday, but I kept taking stamping breaks! I am looking forward to getting out today, since its going to be 86 degrees, wooo-hoo! I'll take all the nice weather I can get, tomorrow is supposed to be 57! Everyone here always wonders why we get sick so often, a 30 degree difference day to day and swings in wet/dry could be to blame... Or not, but its the excuse I'll use:-) Anyways for one of my stamping experiments today I was inspired by the sunny warm forecast and came up with this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FnsD1yhOPKw/T4tkNuHRFOI/AAAAAAAAA1k/uu21icetTj4/s1600/Citrus+Fruit+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" nda="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FnsD1yhOPKw/T4tkNuHRFOI/AAAAAAAAA1k/uu21icetTj4/s320/Citrus+Fruit+1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aNphPj9gjkM/T4tkQLcy4bI/AAAAAAAAA1s/y9Fx1fA_Ms0/s1600/Citrus+Fruit+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" nda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aNphPj9gjkM/T4tkQLcy4bI/AAAAAAAAA1s/y9Fx1fA_Ms0/s320/Citrus+Fruit+2.JPG" width="237" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SJOhdtWxmtU/T4tkSPDrZdI/AAAAAAAAA10/i7-jZdhgGFA/s1600/Citrus+Fruit+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" nda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SJOhdtWxmtU/T4tkSPDrZdI/AAAAAAAAA10/i7-jZdhgGFA/s320/Citrus+Fruit+3.JPG" width="228" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is two coats of Sinful Colors White on White, with little citrus fruits stamped from BM 209. For the oranges I used Essie- Brazilliant, for the limes I used Orly Fresh, and for the lemons, I used China Glaze Sunshine Pop. I love Sinfuls basic black and white polishes for a base or for stamping. The colors of the fruit showed up a little more vibrant in real life, but you can get the idea. I think it's a cute summery look, and was super easy to do:-)</div>lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-4033978690622942542012-04-14T09:00:00.000-04:002012-04-14T09:00:04.547-04:00Orly Luxe & Konad m57Hello and Happy Weekend! Today I have for you some flashy zebra nails:-) This is Orly Luxe, which seemed like it was missing something on it's own so this is what I did to spruce it up. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AGMrnuy7ph4/T4jQoNTZSrI/AAAAAAAAA08/xCM81O5puoE/s1600/Orly+Luxe+Zebra+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qda="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AGMrnuy7ph4/T4jQoNTZSrI/AAAAAAAAA08/xCM81O5puoE/s320/Orly+Luxe+Zebra+1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x7VkyhM0ejc/T4jQrQjHD1I/AAAAAAAAA1E/5vFWrJElgXU/s1600/Orly+Luxe+Zebra+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x7VkyhM0ejc/T4jQrQjHD1I/AAAAAAAAA1E/5vFWrJElgXU/s320/Orly+Luxe+Zebra+2.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So Luxe is a champagne gold foil. This kind of gold works a little better on me than the really brassy-yellow toned ones. I had some bald spots on my nails after the first coat, but the second covered completely. Its pretty thin and you have to use thin coats or it will run. Like most foils you can see any ridges or imperfections on the nail so if you have any of these and plan on wearing this alone, I recommend a ridge filler base coat. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wasn't feeling this by itself, so I reached for my stamping plates and decided on this one, Konad m57. This is probably my favorite plate due to my love of all things animal print:-) For the black I used Sinful Colors Black on Black which is an awesome inexpensive glossy black polish. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So below I added a few pic of Luxe on its own so you can see the color and finish a little better. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Happy Wednesday:-) Today I have a color my mother in law picked up for me one day. I got in the car with her and she was like "Here, I know you like nail polish". She does thoughtful things like that, I really lucked out in the in law department:-) So anyway this is OPI DS Bold...<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is three coats with two coats SV. My first impression was that it reminded me a lot of Excuse Moi! There are two major differences though, one is the obvious lack of multi colored glitter mixed in. The other is the formula. Excuse Moi! was a two coater, packed with glitter but very gritty and hungry for topcoat. The base was clear on EM too. This has a rose colored jelly base and the glitter was a bit less dense. So although I needed an extra coat, it was a lot smoother on the nail. I like this. It's really a pretty wearable glitter, not too over the top. I have seen comparisons of this to China Glaze Mrs. Claus, and they are close enough for me to call dupes. </div>
I have to confess though...I am slightly glittered out (blasphemy!) This is completely due to glitter removal. I know...foil...still, it's a pain in the ass! I have a few really pretty ones sitting in my untrieds, and as much as I want them on my nails, I can only do it so often. <br />lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-46272099743035794912012-04-10T20:09:00.001-04:002012-04-10T20:09:47.280-04:00Sinful Colors- Cloud 9Hi guys! Well we're halfway through another week. I hopefully yours is going well:-) I had a rough nail day today... I woke up early and decided to do my nails before I got ready for work. I don't usually do that, but I would have had time if I hadn't decided I hated it and started over like 15 minutes before walking out the door! Why would I think that would be a good idea? So I got them done, (all four coats) then put on m coat. When my hand emerged from the sleeve, a hideous sight appeared... It looked like crumpled orange Saran wrap on my nails. At this point I was stuck with it. So all day I hid my left hand from anyone I could. I wish I had got a picture so you could understand! Anyways, the first thing I did when I got home was throw a rubber glove on the still nice right hand and go to work! <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Sinful Colors- Cloud 9. It is very sheer on it's own (which is why I took it off this morning!), but makes a great layering polish. To get this opaque, I used two coats of Sally Hansen Sunkissed as underwear. It kept the color true but without the vnl. I love the glowy gold shimmer in this. Its really a juicy color. Perfect for summer.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first two pictures are in the lightbox, and the last two are hiding behind my curtains in the living room by the window, trying to get the last minutes of sunlight:-) The color is true in both depending on the light source. </div>lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-34693379612544382482012-04-09T07:09:00.001-04:002012-04-09T07:09:47.970-04:00Easter Skittles:-)Good Morning:-) I hope everyone had great weekends and Easters! I have all too much candy, and if I'm good it would take me at least 3-4 months to eat it. My guess is, its gone in a week! I know myself too well. My son had a blast though, going to both my families and my husbands families houses for two dinners, with the Easter Bunny showing up at both their houses plus ours... he actually thought it was another Christmas. <br />
Anywhozle... I didn't get around to doing an Easter mani beforehand but I'll show you what I wore this weekend today. This is skittles with dots...they remind me of Easter Eggs:-)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qLFJlGsGuDA/T4LCWQGrE-I/AAAAAAAAAzs/DmnPMi7hx44/s1600/102_4889.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" nda="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qLFJlGsGuDA/T4LCWQGrE-I/AAAAAAAAAzs/DmnPMi7hx44/s320/102_4889.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I used :</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Essie Fiji</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Revlon Sunshine Sparkle</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sally Hansen Lacy Lilac</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sally Hansen Blue-Away</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Revlon Minted</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Gap Peach Sherbet</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't manage to get a clear picture of my thumb, I wore Fiji on it with all the same dots as on the others. I really liked this, it was easy and festive, and cute.</div>

I hope everyone is having a good week! I've spent the last week coloring more eggs than I will ever be able to eat! My sons hands despite baths and scrubbing are almost as colorful as the eggs! It's fun to do these things with him that I have such great memories of when I was little. Anyway that's what I've been up to! I searched my house for my camera the last two days, only to find it right where I left it in the kitchen! So now I can finally get you some pictures. I had this blue on but it was starting to wear, so I decided to stamp it. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Sally Hansen Blue-Away which is one of the Inst-Dry Polishes. This color is so pretty, but this brush....Grrrrrr! I actually cursed out the person who designed this bottle/brush the entire time I did my nails! Its like a big wide paddle on a flat stem that you cant scape the excess off in the round hole! It makes absolutely no sense! This covered in two coats, so that finally ended my frustration. The formula on this is actually pretty nice, its your standard creme. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Over this I stamped the full nail floral pattern from BM 225, with white polish, then used a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust. The FD obscured the design a bit, but I like the result. Its very springy and subtle. I'm trying to plan my easter mani next, I have a few ideas, but we'll see:-)</div>lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-90683523110605428312012-04-02T14:00:00.000-04:002012-04-02T14:00:00.856-04:00Sinful Colors- Mint AppleHello, I'm back:-) Its funny when I get a chance to swatch some colors, I always find some colors that I'm sad to take off without actually wearing. This is one of those colors. I had seen pictures of this and passed it up several times in the display. Who knows why I didn't make this one mine sooner, especially at the price point! This is exactly the kind of color I swoon over. <br />

This is nice shimmery mint green. I have colors like this in a creme finish but nothing with this beautiful silver shimmer. It makes me think of wintergreen. It went on much nicer than the new Sinful Polishes I recently reviewed. This was two coats that covered, self leveled, and stayed where it was put (no migration to my cuticles!). I apologize for the still shiny fingers, my hands have been in a terrible state as of late, and I left the oil on in the pictures. This is in their regular line up, and I recommend grabbing this if you don't already have it!lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1666199430525692809.post-12082776944655300892012-04-01T15:06:00.001-04:002012-04-01T15:06:39.438-04:00Essie- Navigate HerHello! How has everyone been doing? I finally made it to see Hunger Games this weekend, it's only been a week but I feel so late! I'm looking forward to another holiday weekend coming up and yummy dinners spent with our families...<br />
I guess I have some explaining to do concerning my recent absence. Well aside from the usual business, I guess I've been in a polish funk. I haven't been in the mood to polish and haven't been particularly excited about putting anything on my fingers. I don't mean I don't like the current collections, in the contrary, I love lots of new polishes. I just think I have been slightly overwhelmed by everything of late. My nails have not been growing well, I had to chop them down, and the budget I have for my new babies, I just haven't been able to make up my mind what to use it on. I am one of those old fashioned people who likes to shop in stores and not online, and most of the polishes I want are new Indie brands, but I hate sitting and waiting.....blah blah blah. You don't need to hear me vent! <br />
Anyways... I did pick this up the other day. I don't have anything like this in my collection and its quite springy! When I think of Essie, I automatically think pastel. This is Navigate Her from the Spring 2012 collection. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a perfect 2 coat creme.It is a really pretty pistachio color. It self leveled beautifully, and dried rather quickly. I did get in a fight with my car seat and took a little chip out of my index finger but that is totally my fault and not the polish. I used two coats here with a topcoat of SV. This color is so appropriate for Easter week! Despite giving me slight lobster hands, I love it:-)</div>

I had this one left over from the Anchors away collection,this is Lighthouse. If I'm being honest, this color does absolutely nothing for me.This is a sheer yellow loaded with gold glass fleck. I wasn't sure how opaque this would be, but this is three coats and it has a long way to go. This one might be another one that looks good layered, but I haven't tried that yet.I was procrastinating on posting this because I really don't like putting up colors that I'm not crazy about, but it is a pretty color, just not so much on me... <br />

I'm sure you've spotted the smudge on my pointer finger...I accidentally stuck it to my middle finger...oops! I wasn't planning on wearing it, so I didn't take the time to redo it all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The verdict is still out on this, I need to figure out something to layer it with, because alone it looks terrible on me, but I feel like it has potential. Also I really am not a fan of VNL, so hmmmmm. Any suggestions for combinations or other ways to wear this???</div>lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07438562106285166230noreply@blogger.com3
